Magistal preparation of laudanum or Opii Tinctura.

Pati ë Nten, who undergo a Whipple operation, often develop a chronic diarrhoea for which they are prescribed Creon forte and laudanum. It was recently announced that Laudanum is no longer available. According to my pharmacist, Opii Tinctura Normata is not an alternative because it is so & #039; n wantasty stuff that it may be difficult to take. And now my questions: is the proposed alternative indeed the solution for me, can it be altered in a masterlike way to an absorbed drug and, if so, with which ingredients ë nten?

Indeed Laudanum is no longer industrially produced and in the future this will probably no longer happen. After all, the company should submit an extensive dossier for the product to the Medicine Commission. However, pharmacists would be able to prepare Laudanum themselves.

the opium tincture with saffron is a clear, brown-yellow liquid with a characteristic scent and an ethanol content of 50-60% (V/V), standardized at 1% m/m morphine. This tincture is obtained by adding 15% Croci tincture, 0.1% eugenol and 0.1% cinnamon oil to a solution of standard-sized dry opium extract in ethanol/water with a final concentration of 1% (M/m) morphine and 50-60% (V/V) ethanol. She was flavoured with cinnamon, cloves and saffron. This natural aroma & #039; s explain the contemporary use of the Crocus tincture (source of saffron) and of eugenol (constituent of clove that gives the specific scent to this herb).
